Browser Setup

Browser Test
Do A and B match? If yes, then your browser is already set up. If not, follow the directions below for your browser. test image ÇѱÛ

After following the directions listed for your browser below, check the Browser Test above. If after this you still experience problems, go to the bottom section.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0+

  1. View → Tools → Internet Options → Languages → Add → Korean [ko].
    Highlight 'Korean [ko]' and move it up to the top of the list by clicking the 'Move Up' button.
    Click "OK".

  2. View → Tools → Internet Options → Fonts
    Character sets: Korean
    Proportional Font: GulimChe (or other Korean fonts)
    Fixed-width Font: GulimChe (or other Korean fonts)

  3. In IE, right-click on a blank part of your screen when the browser is in use, select "Encoding", and choose "Korean". This may prompt you to download Korean Language Support, which takes only a few minutes.

Firefox 1.0

  • View → Character Coding → Korean (UHC).

Netscape Navigator 7.0+

General Settings

  1. Edit → Preferences → Navigator → Languages → Add → Korean [ko]

  2. Highlight 'Korean [ko]' and move it up to the top of the list by clicking the 'Up' arrow button.

  3. Click "OK".

  4. Edit → Preferences → Appearance → Fonts
    For the Encoding: Korean
    Variable Width Font: GulimChe (or other Korean fonts)
    Fixed Width Font: GulimChe (or other Korean fonts)
  5. Click "OK".

In Navigator, there are two ways to view Korean:

  • View → Character Coding → Auto-Detect → Auto-Detect (Korean)
  • View → Character Coding → More → East Asian → Korean (EUC-KR).

If the above action does not show Korean on pages, do the following:
  1. Edit → Preferences → Appearance → Fonts

  2. Choose "Use my default fonts, overriding document-specified fonts".

Opera 4

  1. File → Preferences → Languages.

  2. In the Web Pages box, click Add → Korean[ko].

  3. You can change your language priority using the Move Up and Move Down buttons.
